The PvP aspects of DNW is spread out into 4 modes.
- Gladiatorial Stage and Class PvP focus on solo combat
- Challengers Competition opens up to groups of up to 3
- While Zeno’s Arms Drill caters up to 5 players
The fundamentals of PvP begin with your formations, which is crucial for the lineup you formulated.
There are a total of 9 formations, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.
Your odds of winning will increase or at least put you on par with your opponent if you invest in these formations. Will you lose if you’re up against an opponent with a formation advantage against you? Absolutely not, because there are still so many factors to take into account. One thing is certain though, a bad formation is miles better than no formation at all.
Next are the battle stats. You have the option to optimize your lineup. Yes, you can place a Mirthwright on Magic damage if you want to, but it would be a lot more efficient if you position them to seal or speed. Note that the party leader will always be in position 1 so when teaming up with buddies, always put that into consideration.
Next are the lineups. We’ve got some good examples that you can start with. Disclaimer, these are merely suggestions and are not what guarantees victory.
- The T-Rex formation is pretty much the standard since you get to unlock this for free. It’s pretty straightforward. Drop any DPS you like along with 1 or 2 Oracles.
- Flying Leopard is basically a balanced mix for PVE, prioritizing pre-emptive strikes with burst classes while adding mixed damage sources
- The Mammoth formation might not look like the most appealing but put it this way: If you’re an Oracle main, position 1 will be your best friend, the speed reduction basically allows you to cast your group to heal last, negating some of the damage you took on the 1st round right away. Position 5 also offers the opposite, letting you heal first to recover more of the chip damage you took from the previous round.
- Land Turtle provides more survivability as this formation amps up the healing effect on position one and offers added physical defense from positions 4 and 5.
- The Black Antelope is good for mowing down opponents through speed. The defensive capabilities might not be much, but sealing down opponents for your first move is already good as a defensive strategy.
- One of the go-to formations in PvP is the White Shark as this improves one of your Mirthwright’s sealing capabilities and offers extra defense from seals as well. The flat damage boost from positions 2 and 3 are instrumental to its importance as you are not limited to a specific damage source.
- The dark Eagle is another well-balanced out and flexible formation. It’s straightforward and can consist of multiple possible class lineups. Unfortunately, it gets overpowered by common PvP formations
- Marlin is pretty interesting as this basically helps you against magic damage sources like Starlite and Lightfletcher. Perfect for Shadowdancer or Windrider party leaders for that chunky 15% damage boost
- Lastly, the Nightingale can easily integrate a solid oracle or DPS slot in position 4 followed by a heavy-hitting magic class. It’s one of those pocket-pick formations as this is only overpowered by the commonly used White Shark. 3 Common formations are at the mercy of it though, as the T-Rex, Mammoth, and Turtle formations take more damage from the Nightingale.
In PvP modes that require or utilize partners, it becomes a lot more complex due to partner bonds and unique skills. However, we have some example lineups that you can play around with. Again, this is not the winning formula, but merely suggestions. Also, don’t forget to use the partner focus function!
The loyal servants of The Golden Nation hit fast and hard with an all-DPS composition with the choice of an Oracle or Mirthwright main. This lineup enjoys 5 bond skills and their unique skills certainly complement one another.
A different spin from the previously mentioned that focuses more on being annoying with 2 possible Mirthwrights and a heavier magic damage source from Hilbert. This lineup unlocks 5 bond skills as well.
The merry band of awesome from the Mahayan Tribes can dish out a lot of pain and surprises. This lineup has a high sealing potential as well, courtesy of Euna and Parma.
The lineups above might need a lot of luck to pull off, so we just wanna share 2 budget-friendly lineups that new Dreamers can enjoy. The first one relies on you and Orlon to dish out the pain. This is further enhanced by unlocking Orlon’s unique skills, as well as Loulou’s.
Lastly, here’s something that new dreamers can try out. Just remember to replace this lineup as you get stronger because…It’s only good for the early game.
